Today we're launching Skills in FurtherAI, a new capability that gives the Agent insurance context from the moment it starts working. It already knows where to find flood claim history, coastline distances, wildfire risk, and storm records, drawing on official data from NOAA, FEMA, the U.S. Census Bureau, and more. When a question comes in, the Agent brings the right Skills to it and returns an answer with the reasoning and the source behind it.
Your team can also add to what the Agent knows. Write a Skill in plain language for your underwriting guidelines, referral rules, or procedures, and the Agent applies it whenever the work calls for it.
Insurance work runs on reference data. Pulling flood history for a submission, checking coastline distance on a coastal property, looking up wildfire risk on a California location, cross-checking storm records against a claim: this is the daily work of underwriters, claims teams, and specialty operators across the industry. The data lives in official sources, and getting to it means knowing which source to use for which question, pulling the record, and bringing it back to the work.
Skills put that context inside the Agent from day one. NOAA, FEMA, the U.S. Census Bureau, and the rest of the sources insurance teams rely on are already wired in. When a question needs flood claim history or storm records, the Agent reaches for the right Skill, pulls the data, and uses it in the answer. The reasoning and the source come back with the response, so an underwriter can trust the output and verify it in seconds.
The Agent arrives knowing the public data. What it doesn't arrive knowing is your underwriting guidelines, your referral rules, or the procedures your team has refined over years of running the book. That's the context that makes the work actually yours, and that's what Skills let your team add.
A Skill is written in plain language. Describe your appetite rules, your referral thresholds, or the steps a specific procedure requires, and the Agent treats it as another Skill it can bring to a question. Whenever the work calls for that guideline, the Agent applies it, and the reasoning cites the Skill as the source. The IP that lives in your operation stays with you, and the Agent runs on top of it.
The outcome Skills are built for is simple: every answer the Agent gives starts from the right context. The public data is already there. The team's own rules go in next. When a question comes through, the Agent isn't working from a blank slate or guessing at insurance-specific concepts. It's reaching into a library that already knows what matters for the work.
The work gets faster because the Agent doesn't need to be told where to look. It gets more consistent because the same Skills apply to every question, every time. And it gets easier to trust because the reasoning and the source behind every answer are visible on the response.
